Hollywood elites spent years lecturing Americans about their civic duties.
They positioned themselves as moral authorities on everything from elections to patriotism.
But George Clooney just committed this horrific betrayal Trump predicted.
Trump called it — Clooney turned and ran
George Clooney and his family became French citizens over the weekend according to an official decree published in France's government gazette.¹
The actor who spent decades telling Americans how to vote and what to think about their country just abandoned ship.
President Trump saw this coming from miles away.
When Clooney published his bombshell New York Times op-ed in July 2024 demanding Joe Biden drop out of the presidential race, Trump fired back immediately.
"Fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "He's turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are."²
Trump nailed it — Clooney is a rat who turns on everyone when things don't go his way.
First he turned on Biden after spending years as his top Hollywood fundraiser.
Now he's turning on America itself by becoming a French citizen after Trump's landslide victory.
Clooney joins fellow Trump-hating celebrities Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O'Donnell who fled America after President Donald Trump won in November.³
But Clooney's betrayal cuts deeper because of what he claimed to stand for.
The op-ed that exposes his cowardice
In his July 2024 New York Times piece, Clooney didn't just ask Biden to step aside.
He wrapped himself in the flag and claimed American democracy itself hung in the balance.
"Joe Biden is a hero; he saved democracy in 2020," Clooney wrote. "We need him to do it again in 2024."⁴
Apparently saving democracy was only important when Clooney thought Democrats would win.
The moment Trump secured his second term in a landslide, Clooney quietly packed up his family and made France his permanent home.
This is the same man who co-hosted a record-breaking $30 million Biden fundraiser in June 2024.⁵
He stood on stage with Barack Obama, Julia Roberts, and Jimmy Kimmel telling wealthy Democrats that the future of the country depended on stopping Trump.
Three weeks later, Clooney stabbed Biden in the back with his op-ed after seeing how diminished the President looked at that very fundraiser.
Six months after that, Trump won decisively.
And now Clooney is gone — safely tucked away in his $8.3 million French château while Americans live with the consequences of the policies he spent years promoting.⁶
He's running from the culture he created
Clooney told Esquire magazine in October that he fled Hollywood because he was "worried about raising our kids in L.A., in the culture of Hollywood."⁷
"I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life," Clooney explained. "France — they kind of don't give a s*** about fame."⁸
Read that again and let the hypocrisy sink in.
George Clooney spent his entire career championing the radical leftist policies that destroyed the culture he's now running from.
He fundraised for Democrats who pushed soft-on-crime policies that turned major cities into war zones.
He supported the woke mob that made Hollywood unwatchable with their constant virtue signaling and political lectures.
He backed the open borders agenda that brought crime and chaos to American communities.
Now that those policies created the toxic environment he despises, Clooney gets to escape to his 425-acre estate — complete with vineyards, tennis courts, and a swimming pool — while working-class Americans are stuck dealing with the mess.⁹
The actor purchased the property back in 2021 and has been living there with his wife Amal and their eight-year-old twins.¹⁰
France's strict privacy laws prevent paparazzi from photographing children, which Clooney praised as a major factor in the move.
"Here, they don't take photos of kids," Clooney told RTL Radio. "There aren't any paparazzi hidden at the school gates."¹¹
Of course France can maintain order and protect privacy — they have the kinds of immigration controls and law enforcement policies Clooney spent years attacking Trump for proposing in America.
The pattern of elite abandonment
Trump didn't just predict Clooney would turn on Biden.
He predicted the entire pattern — wealthy elites using their platforms to lecture Americans, then bailing when voters reject their vision.
Clooney becoming a French citizen proves Trump understood these people all along.
They don't actually care about America or American values.
They care about power and winning.
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife moved to England's Cotswolds region after Trump's victory, with DeGeneres gushing about how "charming" everything is there.¹²
Rosie O'Donnell relocated to Ireland with her child in January 2025, citing concerns about Trump's policies.¹³
Director Jim Jarmusch announced he's applying for French citizenship as "a place that will allow me to escape the United States."¹⁴
These celebrities spent years using their platforms to influence American politics and culture.
They demanded regular Americans embrace their political agenda and called anyone who disagreed deplorable, fascist, or worse.
Now that Americans rejected their vision by re-electing Trump in a landslide, they're taking their money and running to countries with the exact immigration and law enforcement policies they spent years attacking.
The message to everyday Americans couldn't be clearer.
Hollywood elites will gladly lecture you about your moral failings and demand you sacrifice for their political causes.
But when the consequences of those policies make life unbearable, they'll retreat to their European estates and leave you to clean up the mess.
George Clooney abandoning America after writing an op-ed about saving democracy proves he never actually believed any of it.
Trump was right — Clooney is a rat who turns on everyone and everything when he doesn't get his way.
And now he's France's problem.
