Fani Willis suffered the one defeat that left Donald Trump breathing a sigh of relief

Dec 20, 2024

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was the latest Democrat prosecutor to fail miserably in her lawfare against Donald Trump.

But Willis finally got the bad news.

And Fani Willis suffered the one defeat that left Donald Trump breathing a sigh of relief.

Georgia Court of Appeals Disqualifies Fani Willis from Trump 2020 election case

Fani Willis indicted Donald Trump and 18 other codefendants on the RICO case that offended legal experts with its attack on the Constitution and the rule of law.

The crux of Willis’ case boiled down to claiming that it was illegal for Donald Trump and his supporters to follow their lawyers’ advice on how to contest an election because they are Republicans.

But the case sat in legal limbo since February 2024 due to a motion to disqualify Willis due to a conflict of interest.

Defense attorneys accused Willis of financially benefiting from the fact that she hired her lover Nathan Wade to work as the special prosecutor on this case due to Wade using some of the $654,000 in taxpayer money he earned while working the case to pay for he and Willis to go on luxury vacations.

Trial Judge Scott McAfee ruled that Willis could remain on the case if Wade left his post.

But in his ruling McAfee all but accused Wade and Willis of perjuring themselves when they tried to claim their relationship didn’t begin until after Willis brought Wade on board.

Trump and his codefendants appealed the ruling.

And the Georgia Court of Appeals handed down a two-to-one majority opinion disqualifying Willis and her entire office from the case.

“After carefully considering the trial court’s findings in its order, we conclude that it erred by failing to disqualify DA Willis and her office,” the opinion read.

Appeals Court says Willis erred in not considering the appearances alone

The majority wrote it disqualified Willis because of the “appearance of impropriety.”

“The remedy crafted by the trial court to prevent an ongoing appearance of impropriety did nothing to address the appearance of impropriety that existed at times when DA Willis was exercising her broad pretrial discretion about who to prosecute and what charges to bring,” the ruling continued on.

The majority ruled that Willis hiring her lover and then extending the fact-finding phase of the investigation for nearly three years so her boyfriend could earn nearly a million dollars in fees tainted the case to the point that Willis could no longer continue on.

“While we recognize that an appearance of impropriety generally is not enough to support disqualification, this is the rare case in which disqualification is mandated and no other remedy will suffice to restore public confidence in the integrity of these proceedings,” the ruling continued.

This ruling ends this case once and for all as now, the state will decide on a new prosecutor, a lengthy process that will end with the charges getting dropped due to how badly Willis’ conduct tainted the case and the fact that it couldn’t proceed for the four years Trump is in office, a fact celebrated by the Trump team.

“In granting President Trump an overwhelming mandate, the American People have demanded an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and a swift dismissal of all the Witch Hunts against him,” Trump communications director Steven Cheung declared. “We look forward to uniting our country as President Trump Makes America Great Again.”
