Ex NFL Legend Went After Eagles Coach After He Made One Sideline Move He Didn’t Like

Jan 13, 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles' season ended in chaos.

Their head coach's sideline style became the story instead of the loss.

And an ex-NFL legend went after Eagles Nick Sirianni after the Eagles coach over one sideline move he didn’t like.

Sirianni's sideline fire caught on camera

The Eagles' playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday turned into a disaster when head coach Nick Sirianni got caught on camera screaming at star wide receiver A.J. Brown during the first half.

Cameras captured the heated exchange on the sideline, with Sirianni charging down the field to confront Brown while the game was still going on.

NFL legend Michael Strahan didn't hold back during FOX's halftime show when he saw the footage.

"I don't understand why Sirianni's running down there and yelling at one of his star players, A.J. Brown," Strahan said during the broadcast.

The former New York Giants defensive end called out what everyone watching could see — a coach losing control at the worst possible moment.

"You know, A.J. Brown wanted to get involved in the game, I'm pretty sure," Strahan explained.

Brown had been targeted twice on deep shots earlier in the drive and appeared frustrated with his lack of opportunities.

"They took two big shots with him, maybe he said, 'Give me a shot,' and the coach said, 'You had your chance, you better catch the ball next time,'" Strahan added.

Strahan mouths off about Sirianni's leadership

Strahan didn't buy Sirianni's excuse that he was just trying to get Brown off the field before a punt.

"I don't understand why you do that in the middle of a game like this, because I don't think that brings out the best in your players," Strahan stated.

The timing couldn't have been worse — Philadelphia was locked in a tight playoff battle, and their head coach chose that moment to publicly embarrass his best receiver.

"I think it takes away from your play. I think it takes away from the attitude of the team and the energy of the team," Strahan continued.

After the game, Sirianni tried to spin the confrontation as no big deal.

"I love A.J. I think he knows how I feel about him. I have a special relationship with him," Sirianni claimed.

The coach attempted to paint their relationship as one filled with emotion and passion.

"We probably went through every emotion you can possibly have together. We've laughed together, we've cried together, we've yelled at each other. We're both emotional. I was trying to get him off the field and that happens in this game," Sirianni said.

Brown finished with just three catches for 25 yards on seven targets.

On the Eagles' final drive, trailing by four points, Brown dropped a crucial third-down pass from quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Philadelphia converted on fourth down to keep the drive alive, but Brown never saw another target for the rest of the series.

The 49ers won 23-19, ending the Eagles' season.

Brown's minimal production and the public sideline confrontation told the real story.

Strahan did credit the Eagles for managing to win games despite what looked like "internal dysfunction" from the outside.

But that dysfunction finally caught up with them when the stakes were highest.

The Eagles had been one of the most talented teams in the NFC all season.
