Elon Musk was speechless when a watchdog exposed this scary USAID scandal

Elon Musk pulled back the curtain on the foreign aid grift.

It’s even worse than he realized.

And Elon Musk was speechless when a watchdog exposed this scary USAID scandal.

USAID money likely ended up in the hands of the Taliban

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and his work with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) exposed the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

The agency was supposed to be distributing foreign aid, but it was being used to fund the Left’s agenda at home and abroad.

USAID paid for transgender comic books in South America, a hip-hop festival in Kazakhstan, and for Ukrainian models to attend Paris Fashion Week.

Woke and wasteful spending was only the tip of the iceberg for the agency.

The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), the government watchdog for American involvement in the country, blew the whistle on USAID.

A new report from SIGAR found that “since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, the U.S. government has spent billions of U.S. taxpayer funds on projects intended to provide for Afghans’ basic needs.”

Former President Joe Biden kept the taxpayer money flowing into the country after his disastrous withdrawal.

The SIGAR report said that the State Department and USAID sent most of their money to NGOs (non-governmental organizations) to distribute in Afghanistan.

USAID and the State Department were accused of being “inconsistent” about “U.S. government oversight on how funding is spent and whether projects are delivering intended results” instead of being “diverted to the Taliban.”

The agencies were funneling taxpayer money to NGOs with next to no oversight about how it was being spent.

USAID’s operation in Afghanistan didn’t have a contract with NGOs that allowed American officials to visit them to see how the money was being spent.

The agency contracted that function out to a third-party group that SIGAR accused of not doing onsite inspections.

USAID had no way to independently verify what was being done with the money that was sent into Afghanistan.

Typically, there’s an agreement that allows American officials to visit the site to ensure the NGO is doing what it claims.

In a corrupt, war-torn country that was thrown out the window.

No one had any clue how taxpayer money was being spent or cared

The State Department Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) casually let potential fraud happen on their watch, according to the report.

“When we asked INL for information about aid diversion in May 2023 and February 2024, it claimed to have no information. However, in September 2024, INL provided us with an October 2023 report from the Colombo Plan that outlined eight instances of Taliban interference,” the report said. “The bureau learned about these instances through meetings in December 2022 and January 2023. INL did not explain why it did not share this information when we asked.”

No oversight and no one cared that taxpayer money could be siphoned off by the Taliban.

SIGAR said that visiting NGOs on site was an essential oversight step the State Department and USAID needed to take moving forward.

“Monitoring projects through periodic site visits (including by third party monitors) is an essential management tool to help ensure that U.S. taxpayer money is not being wasted on projects that are not meeting their intended goals or that are undermined by interference by the Taliban,” the report stated.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that USAID was being shut down and only a few programs would survive under the State Department.

One of the worst government agencies is finally receiving a fitting demise.
