But one journalist couldn’t keep a lid on an ugly story for Democrats.

Human smuggler tells NBC reporter that Trump’s policies wrecked his business
President Donald Trump began working on sealing the border on his first day in office with executive orders and actions.
The handcuffs have been taken off the Border Patrol, and soldiers have been deployed to the southern border.
NBC News Senior White House Correspondent Gabe Gutierrez traveled to Mexico to report on the Trump administration’s efforts on the other side of the border.
Gutierrez spoke to a human trafficker who complained that Trump was crippling his business.
“Illegal border crossings dropped dramatically after the U.S. tightened asylum restrictions during the last part of the Biden administration,” Gutierrez said. “Since Trump was re-elected, they’ve fallen even more, 35% from December to January. Trump’s ‘Border Czar’ now says they’re down to 229 a day, down from a peak of 11,000 a day during President Biden’s term.”
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum deployed 10,000 soldiers to the southern border after Trump threatened the country with tariffs.
“Marcos is a coyote, a human smuggler in southern Mexico who’s concealing his face and last name,” Gutierrez stated. “The troops won’t make a difference, he says, it’s foolishness, but he does concede Trump’s stricter border policies have caused his business to plummet about 80% since Inauguration Day.”
Gutierrez said that Marcos lamented that he might have to raise his prices to stay afloat because of Trump.
He was making $5,000 to $6,000 a month but his income plummeted to less than $1,000 since Trump took office.
Donald Trump’s quickly secured the southern border
Former President Joe Biden argued that he didn’t have the authority to secure the southern border last year.
He and Democrats argued that Congress needed to pass a fake border security bill that was filled with money for Ukraine and allowed two million illegal aliens to enter the country every year and gave them work permits.
The southern border became secure because Trump was determined to do it and not make excuses.
New Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks told CBS News that illegal border crossings were down 94% at the southern border since Trump took office compared to the same time last year.
He credited the Trump administration’s policies for leading to the sharp drop-off.
The Biden administration was releasing virtually everyone who crossed the border into the interior of the country.
“I can tell you this: anyone that has crossed the border between the ports of entry since this administration has taken office has not been released,” Banks stated.
Banks credited Trump’s decision to deploy the military to the southern border and to deputize the Texas National Guard to enforce immigration law.
The bogus asylum policies under Biden where anyone could claim asylum and be released into the country were stopped by Trump.
“You do not cross the border illegally and then make an asylum claim,” Banks said. “You can go to the port of entry, or you can go to one of the embassies in your country and make your claim for asylum.”
It took a President who had the will to do it to finally make progress toward securing the border.
