Donald Trump didn’t just have to beat the Democrat Party.
The left-wing media was against him from the start.
And now Donald Trump is on the verge of this huge victory over the fake news media.
CBS in settlement talks with Donald Trump
Donald Trump slapped CBS with a $10 billion lawsuit over 60 Minutes deceptively editing an interview with Kamala Harris.
Trump’s lawsuit accused CBS of “partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference” with the intention to “mislead the public and attempt to tip the scales” in Kamala’s favor.
The dispute stemmed from an answer Kamala Harris delivered to a question from correspondent Bill Whitaker on the war in Gaza.
“Well, Bill . . . the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by or a result of many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region,” Kamala replied to Whitaker in the clip shared to social media by CBS Face the Nation.
But that wasn’t what aired on the broadcast.
“We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end,” CBS showed Kamala saying.
To Trump and his supporters, what happened was clear.
CBS deceptively edited Kamala’s answer to erase her word salad from existence and make her response appear coherent.
At the time, CBS admitted it edited the interview to use different clips.
“60 Minutes gave an excerpt of our interview to Face the Nation that used a longer section of her answer than that on 60 Minutes,” a statement from CBS read.
“Same question. Same answer. But a different portion of the response,” the statement continued.
CBS claimed the edited portion of Kamala Harris’ answer on 60 Minutes made the same point as the answer shown on Face the Nation but was more to the point.
“When we edit any interview, whether a politician, an athlete, or movie star, we strive to be clear, accurate and on point. The portion of her answer on 60 Minutes was more succinct, which allows time for other subjects in a wide ranging 21-minute-long segment,” the statement concluded.
CBS isn’t so brave now.
The network is waving the white flag to avoid a protracted legal battle with Donald Trump.
But the New York Times reported that CBS is now in settlement talks with Donald Trump.
“Real accountability for CBS and Paramount will ensure that the president is compensated for the harm done to him, and will deter the Fake News from further distorting the facts to advance a partisan agenda. President Trump looks forward to seeing this case through to a just conclusion,” Trump’s lawyer Edward Paltzik told the Times.
ABC already paid Trump a $16 million settlement in a defamation suit brought by Trump.
Meta agreed to a $25 million payment to settle the lawsuit Trump brought against Facebook after the platform banned him following the events of January 6.
Accountability for the media may have been delayed.
But it appears to be in sight.
