Donald Trump has one hard decision on a military order that would change everything

Donald Trump is facing one of his toughest moments in the Oval Office.

His administration is split on both sides.

And Donald Trump has one hard decision on a military order that would change everything.

Donald Trump weighs taking military action against the cartels

The Mexican drug cartels are wreaking havoc on America after they flooded the country with deadly drugs like fentanyl and criminals.

Fentanyl overdoses are the leading cause of death for Americans 18-49.

President Donald Trump is ready to take off the gloves against the cartels in his second term.

He designated them as foreign terrorist organizations on his first day in office.

A reporter asked Trump if he would consider using the Special Forces to go after the cartels in Mexico on his first day in office.

“Could happen,” Trump said. “Stranger things have happened.”

His administration is escalating the fight against the cartels.

There’s been an uptick in Air Force spy planes flying in international waters around Mexico that can conduct electronic surveillance deep into the country.

CNN reported that unarmed CIA MQ-9 Reaper drones are flying into Mexico to conduct surveillance on the cartels.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told Fox News that nothing was off the table when it came to military action against them.

The New York Times reported that there’s a split in the Trump administration about using the military against the cartels versus working with the Mexican government to tackle them.

“On one side, several people familiar with the matter say, some U.S. officials are advocating for unilateral military action against cartel figures and infrastructure to stem the flow of drugs across the border. On the other side, those people say, some officials are arguing for increased partnership with the Mexican government to ensure, among other things, continued cooperation on the issue of migration,” the New York Times reported.

Top Trump officials fall on different sides of military action

The Times claimed that White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller is pushing for cooperation with the Mexican government.

Miller is reportedly worried that using the military in Mexico would cause the country’s government to halt any cooperation on slowing illegal immigration while White House National Security Council counter terrorism head Sebastian Gorka is arguing for using the military for direct action against the cartels.

Gorka is working with a former member of the Joint Special Operations Command, which oversees the Special Forces, to develop a plan for military action in Mexico.

Mexico sent a high-level delegation to Washington, D.C., led by the country’s top security official Omar Garcia Harfuch for meetings with the Trump administration.

The meeting was about greater security cooperation between the two countries against the cartels and illegal immigration.

Green Berets have already been sent to Mexico in a non-combat role to train members of the country’s military.

American law enforcement could also potentially train special units of the Mexican police to take on the cartels.

Donald Trump is left with the task of deciding whether he wants to pull the trigger on sending the military into Mexico.
