Donald Trump called Jay Jones two devastating words that just crushed his Virginia campaign

Jay Jones thought he could get away with his horrific words about political violence.

The President had other plans.

And Donald Trump called Jay Jones two devastating words that just crushed his Virginia campaign.

Jones’ twisted text messages surface at worst possible moment

The Democrat candidate for Virginia Attorney General found himself in hot water this week after disturbing text messages from 2022 came to light.

The National Review exposed messages that Jones sent to Virginia House Delegate Carrie Coyner, complaining about his Republican colleagues "eulogizing" a recently deceased Democrat colleague.

But that wasn’t the worst part.

In those same messages, Jones entertained a sick hypothetical about shooting people – comparing former Virginia Speaker of the House Todd Gilbert to Adolf Hitler and Cambodian dictator Pol Pot.

In the twisted scenario, Jones said if he had to choose between shooting "Hitler, Pol Pot, and Gilbert" with only two bullets, he would shoot Gilbert "every time."

"Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time," Jones wrote.¹

"Gilbert gets two bullets to the head," he continued in the disturbing exchange.²

The Virginia Mercury revealed even more sickening details, reporting that Jones went further in follow-up messages, wishing that "one of Gilbert’s kids would get shot up at school and die" and describing the child "lying lifeless in their mother’s arms."³

This isn’t political banter – this is someone fantasizing about violence against a public servant and his family.

For a man running to be Virginia’s top law enforcement officer, these comments reveal a twisted mindset that has no place in public service.

Trump delivers devastating blow with Miyares endorsement

President Donald Trump didn’t waste time responding to these revelations.

In a scathing Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump delivered his brutal assessment by calling Jones a "Radical Left Lunatic" – two words that immediately became the story’s defining moment.

"It has just come out that the Radical Left Lunatic, Jay Jones, who is running against Jason Miyares, the GREAT Attorney General in Virginia, made SICK and DEMENTED jokes, if they were jokes at all, which were not funny," Trump wrote.⁴

The President made it clear these weren’t harmless comments, noting that Jones had written down and sent around messages "concerning the murdering of a Republican Legislator, his wife, and their children."

Trump also blasted Virginia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger for being "weak and ineffective" and refusing to acknowledge what Jones had done.

"Even Democrats are saying it is ‘RESIGNATION FROM CAMPAIGN’ TERRITORY," Trump continued.⁵

The President’s message was crystal clear: "Democrat Jay Jones should drop out of the Race, IMMEDIATELY."

Trump gave Miyares his "Complete and Total Endorsement," declaring that "JASON WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"⁶

Miyares exposes Jones’ unfitness for office

Current Attorney General Jason Miyares didn’t hold back in his response to the Jones revelations.

In a powerful statement, Miyares explained exactly why these comments disqualify Jones from ever serving as Virginia’s chief law enforcement officer.

"The Attorney General is Virginia’s Chief Law Enforcement Officer," Miyares said. "That authority must always be exercised with neutrality, integrity, and character – because that’s the only way every Virginian can trust the system meant to protect them."⁷

Miyares drove home the human cost of violence, drawing on his experience as a former prosecutor.

"As a former prosecutor and current Attorney General, I’ve sat with crying victims and grieving families," Miyares explained. "There is no sound more haunting than the cries of a parent who has lost a child."⁸

He continued with devastating effect: "Absolutely no one, least of all a candidate for Virginia’s top law-enforcement office, should ever treat that pain as a political tool."

Miyares summed up what this race has become: "Prior to this week, this race was about competing views on public safety. Now it’s about basic fitness for public office."⁹

Jones’ pathetic apology falls flat

When confronted about his disturbing comments by reporters, Jones offered the kind of hollow apology that politicians always give when they get caught.

Jones claimed he was "so deeply, deeply, sorry" for his comments.¹⁰

But here’s the problem – you don’t accidentally fantasize about shooting a Republican politician and watching his children die.

These weren’t off-the-cuff remarks made in the heat of the moment.

Jones wrote these thoughts down in text messages and shared them with others.

That shows a deliberate mindset, not a momentary lapse in judgment.

Look, there’s a difference between tough political rhetoric and what Jones pulled off here.

Every politician trash-talks their opponents – that’s politics.

But when you start gaming out scenarios where you’re shooting elected officials and talking about their kids dying in their mother’s arms, you’ve crossed a line that can’t be uncrossed.

For folks who work in law enforcement or have family members who serve, this should make you furious.

The Attorney General’s office handles cases involving threats against public officials, domestic violence, and child endangerment.

How can anyone trust Jay Jones to prosecute these crimes when he’s fantasizing about committing them himself?

This isn’t about Republican versus Democrat anymore – this is about basic human decency.

Virginia Democrats know it too, which is why even they’re calling for Jones to drop out.

When your own party starts running for the exits, you know you’ve stepped in it big time.

The smart money says Jones’ campaign is toast, but he’s too arrogant to admit it.

Meanwhile, Jason Miyares continues doing the job Virginia elected him to do – keeping families safe and holding criminals accountable.

With President Trump’s endorsement backing him up, Miyares just got the boost he needs to finish this race strong.

Virginia voters deserve better than a wannabe Attorney General who jokes about shooting Republicans and their children.

They deserve Jason Miyares – someone who understands the gravity of the office and treats violence as the serious crime it is, not a political punchline.
