Chuck Schumer finds himself on shaky political ground.
Schumer never thought it would end up this way.
And Donald Trump asked the one question that may end Chuck Schumer’s career.
Trump wonders if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will challenge Schumer in a 2028 primary
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) approval ratings have plummeted to 17 percent.
Republicans and independents already reviled Schumer for covering up Joe Biden’s decline and muscling Biden’s disastrous agenda through Congress.
But now Democrats despise Schumer for not engaging in enough mindless opposition to President Trump.
Schumer also found himself crosswise with the Democrat Party base over Israel’s war in Gaza.
President Trump told radio host Hugh Hewitt that the Israeli lobby used to be the most powerful in Washington because it possessed the power to end careers in an instant.
“If you go back a few years, you would say that could, you know, it’s never… when I was growing up as a young guy, I would say without question the most powerful lobby, most powerful without question was Israel in terms of the Congress, in terms of the Senate and the House,” Trump stated.
President Trump showed he didn’t believe that was the case on the right today as he rejected Israel’s plans for war with Iran because they involved dragging America into the conflict.
The truth on the left is much uglier.
But the rise of the pro-Hamas Left following the October 7 terrorist attack indicates that inside the Democrat Party, the energy resided with the mobs terrorizing Jewish Americans on college campuses and the streets of the nation’s biggest cities.
Trump said that was especially true in the House where pro-Hamas Representatives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) were the ones calling the shots.
The pro-Hamas caucus in the Democrat Party attained such power that Trump noted even a past supporter of Israel like Schumer is now a “Palestinian.”
“Today, and the Senate’s hanging pretty tough, but the House is, you look at some of these people, including AOC plus three and all of these different people that are now, I mean, look at Schumer. He’s become a Palestinian,” Trump added.
Trump then trolled Schumer for rolling over for the pro-Hamas caucus joking that Schumer should start wearing the keffiyeh scarves the Palestinians and their supporters wear.
“Give him the garb”
“I think he’s a Palestinian, actually. You should give him the garb. But I can’t believe that Schumer, of all the people, you look at the guy,” Trump added.
Trump said he wrote Schumer a thank you note when Schumer began catching flak from the Democrat Party base over a vote in favor of Trump’s bill to freeze government spending.
The President revealed he wrote Schumer a thank you note, but that Democrats weren’t in the mood to reward him for doing the right thing.
“I think he’s a wreck, first of all. I don’t know what the hell happened to him, but he’s being beat up pretty good. You know, when I wrote him the little note, thank you very much for your this and that, that was not meant as a wise guy note. That was meant sincerely. I appreciated that he did what I considered to be the right thing with his vote,” Trump continued.
But Trump said the most interesting decision would be whether Ocasio-Cortez decides to primary Schumer in 2028 when Schumer is up for re-election.
“Well, the real question is, is he going to be challenged by AOC? Is he going to be challenged by somebody else, because I think he’s pretty weakened right now. He looks like hell,” Trump stated.
A Data for Progress poll showed Ocasio-Cortez crushing Schumer 55 to 36 percent in a hypothetical 2028 Senate primary matchup.
However, Chuck Schumer may yet avoid the humiliating fate of seeing his career end in a blowout primary loss.
That’s because the more likely 2028 scenario is that Ocasio-Cortez runs for President.
