Disney got one letter about Trump’s election that was the worst news ever

Disney was the poster child for major corporations that fell under the sway of the woke Left.

But it’s about to be a new day in America.

And Disney got one letter about Trump’s election that was the worst news ever.

Disney receives a major warning

Donald Trump named Federal Communications Commission (FCC) member Brendan Carr as the new chair of the FCC.

The FCC regulates the airwaves for broadcast networks.

Carr’s nomination meant the era of fake news was over.

Disney and its CEO Bob Iger got that message in a letter from Carr outlining areas where ABC – which is owned by Disney – violated the “public trust.”

Carr slammed ABC for being among the many news outlets that run wild with anti-Trump narratives at the expense of the truth.

“Americans no longer trust the national news media to report fully, accurately, and fairly,” Carr wrote.

Carr cited as an example ABC waiving the white flag of surrender and agreeing to pay Donald Trump $16 million to settle a defamation lawsuit after anchor George Stephanopoulos falsely claimed a jury in New York City found Donald Trump “liable for rape.”

“ABC’s own conduct has certainly contributed to this erosion in public trust. For instance, ABC News recently agreed to pay $15 million to President Trump’s future presidential foundation and museum and an additional $1 million in attorney fees to settle a defamation case,” Carr added.

ABC’s attempt to crush local affiliates

Carr then got to the meat of the matter which was ABC’s attempt to shake down local affiliates for money under the threat of losing access to critical programming that makes these stations viable in the first place.

“The fact that a massive trust divide has emerged between local news outlets and national programmers like ABC only increases the importance of retransmission consent revenues remaining available for local broadcast TV stations to invest in their local news operations and content that serves their communities,” Carr continued.

In his letter, Carr warned Iger that local news outlets – unlike national operations like ABC – still retain the trust of the audience – and that ABC’s attempt to blackmail these affiliates into financial concessions would crush some of the few remaining news institutions that viewers can count on as a reliable source of information.

“My understanding is that ABC is attempting to extract onerous financial and operational concessions from local broadcast TV stations under the threat of terminating long-held affiliations, which could result in blackouts and other harms to local consumers of broadcast news and content,” Carr stated.

Carr informed Iger that he and the other FCC members would be “monitoring the outcome” of ABC’s negotiations with local affiliates “to ensure that those negotiations enable local broadcast TV stations to meet their federal obligations and serve the needs of their local communities.”

The FCC does possess the power to yank ABC’s broadcast license.

And now Disney is on notice that ABC’s days of freewheeling power plays are over thanks to Donald Trump.
