The Democrat Party was determined to claim a scalp.
But Democrats came up empty-handed.
And Democrats will hide their heads in shame over this video from Pete Hegseth’s confirmation hearing.
Democrats were chomping at the bit for Pete Hegseth’s confirmation hearing to be Secretary of Defense.
Ever since Trump named Hegseth as his nominee to run the Pentagon, Hegseth faced a two-month long smear campaign in the Trump-hating media.
NBC ran a hit piece falsely accusing Hegseth of showing up to work drunk at Fox News Channel where he was a weekend co-host.
Hawaii Democrat Senator Mazie Hirono – considered one of the dimmer members of the Senate – made this one of the focal points of her questions.
Hegseth denied all allegations.
That led to Oklahoma Republican Markwayne Mullin creating a viral moment for all time when it came time for his turn to speak at the confirmation hearing.
Mullin lashed out at Democrats as a bunch of hypocrites for weaponizing anonymous sources attacking Hegseth without a shred of proof to back up their claims when they have seen Senators first-hand show up to vote drunk.
Mullin also took issue with Democrats trying to attack Hegseth for his divorce after Hegseth said he didn’t live a perfect life but was saved by his faith in Jesus Christ.
“What if you showed up drunk to your job? How many senators showed up drunk to vote at night? Have any of you asked them to step down? Don’t tell me you haven’t seen it because I know you have! How about a divorce for cheating on their wives? Have you asked those senators to step down? You guys make a big show. The man [Pete Hegseth] made a mistake, and you wanna sit there and say he’s not qualified? Give me a joke. You guys hold yourselves to this ‘higher standard’ and yet you have a big plank in your eye,” Mullin declared.
🚨 911, I NEED TO REPORT ANOTHER M*RDER.
SENATOR MARKWAYNE MULLIN: Democratic senators are worried about people joining the defense industry after serving… Secretary Austin – you all voted for – he stepped off the board of Raytheon. I guess that’s OK, because that’s a Democrat… pic.twitter.com/VTcb0NZniD

Mullin later defended Hegseth in an interview with CNN’s left-wing activist Kaitlan Collins.
“It’s not,” Mullin said when asked by Collins if drinking on the job was acceptable behavior for a Secretary of Defense. “What they were saying is he was incapable of doing his job. And Kaitlan, what I was trying to get to is, if you’re capable of doing your job and you’re able to still drink on the job or late in the evening, then don’t tell me that Pete can’t. And Pete had already said he’s not going to drink, but they just kept hammering it.”
Mullin’s reaction showed how easily Hegseth aced the hearing.
Hegseth is now on a glide path to confirmation as Senate Majority Leader John Thune announced his intention to hold a floor vote on Hegseth’s confirmation as soon as possible.
