Veteran pollster warns attacking Trump on immigration is a blunder
Democrats and their media allies are melting down over President Donald Trump’s plan to aggressively deport illegal aliens.
Trump ran and won on carrying out mass deportations of the more than 11 million illegal aliens that former President Joe Biden let stroll across the southern border.
Immigration remains his best issue in polling during his second term.
Establishment Republican pollster Frank Luntz warned that Democrats were making a big mistake trying to fight Trump on the immigration issue during an appearance on CNN News Central.
Luntz said that Trump’s tough stance against illegal immigration was popular with voters.
“I do know that the public overwhelmingly supports a tough approach, overwhelmingly supports action over inaction,” Luntz said. “And this is one area where the President has done well in communicating that we’re simply not doing it the way it’s been done before.”
“And we’re going to be really tough,” Luntz added. “Now, obviously, we’re a compassionate people and we don’t want people deported who shouldn’t be.”
Democrats get on the wrong side of a popular issue
Luntz warned Democrats that the public doesn’t support illegal immigration.
“But the Democrats will make a mistake if they go at Trump in this area because the public wants the border sealed, they want the right people coming across it,” Luntz explained. “They want tall gates to invite immigration to continue to happen, but they don’t want illegal immigration, and they want it stopped.”
Over 80% of the public supports deporting illegal aliens who’ve committed violent crimes, according to a Harvard/Harris poll.
Democrats got on the wrong side of public opinion and common sense by going to war against Trump over deporting gang members.
MS-13 gang member Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, an illegal alien from El Salvador, was deported after an administrative error back to his home country and sent to the Terrorism Confinement Center – a maximum security prison for gang members.
Democrats and their media allies portrayed Garcia as a Maryland father who was wrongly ripped from his family and sent to a third-world dungeon.
The Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration should “facilitate” his return to the United States.
But the Trump administration argued that there’s nothing they can do since he’s a citizen of El Salvador being held in a jail in his home country.
Judges ruled twice that Garcia is a member of the bloodthirsty MS-13 gang, and he’s an illegal alien who had a deportation order against him since 2019.
His wife filed a protection order against him in 2021 for domestic violence.
Democrats have turned Garcia into their latest hero in their fight against Trump over mass deportations.
