Chuck Schumer has been getting destroyed by the Trump era.
Now even his own party is turning on him.
And Chuck Schumer just hit rock bottom with this humiliating new ranking.
The numbers don't lie, and for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, they're telling a story of complete political collapse.
A new Gallup poll released on December 22 reveals something stunning about the 75-year-old New York Democrat.
Chuck Schumer now holds the lowest approval rating of any major political figure in Washington, D.C. — proving once again that Trump Derangement Syndrome is a terminal condition.
Schumer posts worst approval rating while Trump thrives
Schumer managed to scrape together just 28 percent approval from Americans, putting him dead last among 14 prominent political leaders surveyed by Gallup.¹
That's lower than President Donald Trump's 36 percent — despite years of Democrats and their media allies attacking Trump 24/7.
Lower than Vice President JD Vance's 39 percent.
Lower than Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's 36 percent — and the media has spent all of 2025 attacking Hegseth with manufactured scandals.
Even Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, who Trump correctly calls "Too Late" Powell, still managed 44 percent approval — 16 points higher than Schumer.²
The poll, conducted between December 1 and 15, has a margin of error of 4 percent.
Here's what should terrify every Democrat: there isn't a single political group that views Schumer favorably.
Only 16 percent of Republicans approve of him.
Only 30 percent of independents.
And get this — only 39 percent of Democrats approve of the job he's doing.³
His own people have turned on him after watching Trump outmaneuver him for an entire year.
Two years ago, 76 percent of Democrats approved of Schumer's performance while just 20 percent disapproved.
Now those numbers have completely flipped, with 56 percent of Democrats disapproving of him.⁴
That's what happens when you spend four years resisting Trump instead of working for the American people — and then Trump comes back stronger than ever.
Schumer's shutdown disaster proves Trump was right all along
Schumer's collapse stems directly from the disastrous 40-day government shutdown that ended in November — the longest shutdown in American history.
Democrats shut down the government demanding an extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits for health insurance subsidies.
Trump refused to negotiate with hostage-takers.
Democrats held out for 40 days while federal workers went without paychecks, airlines canceled thousands of flights, and vital government services ground to a halt.
And what did Schumer get for all that suffering?
Nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
Eight Senate Democrats finally broke ranks with Schumer and voted with Republicans to reopen the government in exchange for a mere promise of a future vote on the healthcare subsidies — a promise everyone knew was worthless.⁵
Senator Bernie Sanders called it "a meaningless gesture."⁶
Schumer voted against the deal, but Trump had already won.
His strategy of refusing to cave to Democrat demands worked perfectly, and Schumer's own caucus publicly abandoned him.
Representative Ro Khanna of California didn't mince words on social media: "Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can't lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?"⁷
This is the Democrat Party eating itself — and Trump is living rent-free in all their heads.
Democrats turn to socialist AOC in desperation
Here's how desperate Democrats have become: they're now turning to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as their savior.
That's right — the same radical socialist who wants to ban hamburgers and airplanes is leading Schumer by 19 points in polls for a potential 2028 primary challenge.
A Data for Progress poll from earlier this year showed AOC crushing Schumer 55 percent to 36 percent among likely Democrat primary voters in New York.⁸
Think about what that means.
Democrats are so disgusted with Schumer's weakness against Trump that they'd rather have a Democratic Socialist represent them in the Senate.
AOC leads Schumer across every demographic — Black voters, white voters, Latino voters.
Among voters under 45, she leads by a staggering 50 points.⁹
Even a Siena College poll showed Schumer with his lowest approval rating in 21 years of surveys, with a majority of voters in deep blue New York viewing him unfavorably.¹⁰
This is what Trump has done to the Democrat Party.
He's exposed their leaders as weak, ineffective, and completely out of touch with reality.
Schumer spent eight years in leadership opposing everything Trump wanted to do for America — securing the border, cutting regulations, putting America First in trade deals.
And what does he have to show for it?
The worst approval rating in Washington, D.C., a caucus that no longer trusts him, and voters ready to replace him with someone even more radical.
Trump keeps winning, and Democrats keep losing.
Schumer can get in front of as many cameras as he wants — and nobody does that more than him — but all Americans see is a failed leader who got steamrolled by Trump at every turn.
The Trump era has been brutal for weak politicians, and Chuck Schumer is Exhibit A.
