The report claimed that the Chinese government harvested real U.S. citizens’ names, addresses, and identification numbers through TikTok data collection.

"China had collected private US user data from millions of TikTok accounts, to include name, ID and address," the report stated.

This allowed China to craft driver’s licenses that included "true ID number and true address of US citizens," making the fake documents much harder to detect.

Physical evidence showed widespread fake ID trafficking

Customs and Border Protection agents seized nearly 20,000 counterfeit driver’s licenses at Chicago O’Hare International Airport between January and June 2020.
