And Chris Cuomo was raising hell after a foreign leader made this nasty attack.
Mexico’s President blames the United States for fentanyl crisis
The Mexican drug cartels used the open border under former President Joe Biden to flood the country with fentanyl.
Fentanyl is the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 49.
President Donald Trump played hardball with Mexico by putting a 25% tariff on the country’s exports, unless it did more to curb the blow of fentanyl.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum folded and agreed to deploy 10,000 soldiers to the country’s northern border to curb the flow of the deadly drug.
Sheinbaum, a Marxist academic, blamed the United States for the fentanyl crisis for not doing anything to crackdown on drug dealing in cities.
The Trump White House accused the Mexican government of being in bed with the drug cartels, which caused Sheinbaum to lash out.
NewsNation host Chris Cuomo ripped Sheinbaum for downplaying Mexico’s role in the fentanyl crisis on his show Cuomo.
“We need Mexico to do more. Why?” Cuomo asked. “Because fentanyl deaths increase every year because of them. Seventy percent of the 100,000-plus overdoses in America last year were fentanyl. It’s coming from there primarily.”
Cuomo noted that the cartels’ human trafficking business exploded under Biden.
“And when not killing us with drugs, the cartels are ruining lives with human trafficking,” Cuomo explained. “In 2018, they made $500 million. Four years later, they made $13 billion selling people. All of this on top of the obvious ill, right? The Mexican government allowing their country to be a pass-through for their own and every other country.”
Cuomo blasts Mexico’s President
The NewsNation host directed his fire at Sheinbaum for trying to evade responsibility.
“You know who knows all this but doesn’t own it and mocks our concerns? President Claudia Sheinbaum,” Cuomo said. “Mexico is identified by every monitoring outfit as among the most corrupt. She knows this. But the Mexican President says it’s insulting to suggest they tolerate cartels.”
The cartels have their tentacles in every level of the Mexican government.
Transparency International ranks Mexico as one of the most corrupt countries on the planet.
“Well, then what would her suggestion be?” Cuomo asked. “She speaks more harshly about the United States than the cartels. She blames us for our drug problem instead of the cartels. Now, look, we all know that if there’s no demand, there’s no supply. But you don’t get to argue that addiction is about demand when you’re flooding us with supply. You don’t get to do that.”
The cartels were used to being able to operate on both sides of the border with a free hand under Biden.
Mexico’s government received no pushback from the Biden administration about drug smuggling and human trafficking through the southern border.
Donald Trump’s return to the White House means that the free pass for Mexico’s government has come to an end.
