Chicago and NYC Congresswomen Said Something About SOTU Medal of Honor Heroes That Has Every Veteran Furious

Feb 28, 2026

A 100-year-old Navy pilot who took on seven Soviet MiGs alone over Korea, finally getting the nation's highest honor after more than seven decades of silence.

That's what President Trump put in front of America Tuesday night – and what two Democrat congresswomen turned into a punchline hours later.

What Rep. Robin Kelly (D-IL) actually said on camera, laughing while she said it, will make your blood boil.

Trump's Historic Medal of Honor Ceremony at the 2026 State of the Union

Trump made history at the 2026 State of the Union – the first president ever to award the Medal of Honor during the address itself.

Retired Navy Capt. Royce Williams, 100 years old, received the decoration for a 1952 mission so extraordinary the government buried it for decades to avoid a confrontation with Moscow.

On Nov. 18, 1952, Williams launched from the USS Oriskany in his F9F Panther jet and found himself alone against seven Soviet MiG-15s.

He shot down four of them.

Trump also presented the Medal of Honor to Army Chief Warrant Officer Eric Slover – the helicopter pilot shot repeatedly in the leg and hip during the January raid that captured Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro – who kept his aircraft airborne anyway, delivering the commandos who finished the mission.

Two soldiers. Two acts of courage that should leave any American speechless.

The chamber gave both men a standing ovation.

Democrats included.

Rep. Robin Kelly Mocks Medal of Honor Recipients on Camera

After the speech, Reps. Kelly and Yvette Clarke (D-NY) appeared on "The State of The People" podcast hosted by liberal commentator Angela Rye.

Clarke went first.

"I was there and it was as horrific as I thought it would be," she said – then laughed when the host asked if she'd left early.

"Absolutely!" Clarke said.

Then Kelly delivered her verdict on the night a 100-year-old combat veteran finally got what he earned.

"It was like an award show," she laughed. "You get a medal! You get a medal! You get a medal!"

The host compared it to Oprah's famous giveaway routine – and the group erupted.

Kelly, it's worth noting, is currently running for the U.S. Senate seat in Illinois – asking Illinois voters to send her to Washington as their next senator.

This Is Who They Are

Democrats sat stone-faced when Trump asked the chamber to stand for the mother of a young woman murdered by an illegal alien.

Then laughed on camera about medals awarded to men who bled for this country.

Kelly and Clarke aren't outliers – this is a party that spent years urging soldiers to defy orders, blocking veterans' legislation, and treating military ceremony as a partisan irritant to be endured or skipped.

But laughing out loud on a recorded podcast – cackling about a 100-year-old fighter pilot and a young soldier shot to pieces in Venezuela – crossed a line that even their allies should have trouble explaining.

Illinois voters now know exactly who Kelly is and what she thinks of the people who served this country.

They'll remember it in March when she's on the primary ballot asking for their trust.

She showed them. On camera. Laughing.
