Comedian Bill Maher continues to speak out against the excesses of the American left.
Maher thinks today’s liberals are anything but.
And Bill Maher just stove-in a Hollywood liberal with this brutal smackdown.
Bill Maher defends Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s wife
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s wife actress Cheryl Hines found herself on the wrong end of the liberal rage mob after Kennedy dropped out of the Presidential race and endorsed Donald Trump.
Kennedy admitted his wife wasn’t happy with the decision, but that didn’t spare her the wrath of the woke left who are terrified that Kennedy throwing his support behind Trump would tip the election.
On his Real Time show, Maher told his audience that he criticized the left so much because he was tired of antics like this.
“Thousands tweet-screamed at Cheryl things like, ‘how do you live with yourself?’ [and] ‘do better,’ ‘I can’t even enjoy the episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm with you in them anymore,’ ‘it’s no wonder Larry divorced you!’ Uh, yeah, that’s a character on TV, but okay,” Maher stated.
Maher then read a tweet from West Wing actor Bradley Whitford where Whitford excoriated Hines over her husband backing Trump.
“Hey @CherylHines, way to stay silent while your lunatic husband throws his support behind the adjudicated rapist who brags about stripping women of their fundamental rights,” Whitford posted. “Gutsy. Great example for the kids. Profile in courage.”
“You know what I think is not gutsy?” Maher rhetorically asked?
Maher then ripped Whitford for demanding Hines throw her marriage away over politics.
“Mansplaining to a woman, but of course not to her face, that she should sacrifice her marriage all so you could read something on Twitter that met with your approval. You want to know why I have a bug up my a** about the left more than I used to? It’s s*** like this. There’s an ugliness they never used to have,” Maher declared.
Maher used Whitford’s post to call attention to a phenomenon on the left where liberals act like the very thing they claim to hate.
“There are a lot of people these days who I call liberals in theory. In theory, they hate bullying. Terrible. In practice, their attitude is, ‘It’s not bullying when I stick your head in the toilet.’ In theory, liberals are compassionate,” Maher added.
Maher mocked Whitford for losing sight of the fact that marriage means you accept your partner warts and all.
“In practice, this guy can’t even understand one of the most basic dilemmas common to all humans—that when you’re married, sometimes you have to swallow some s***,” Maher concluded.
That doesn’t register with today’s liberals.
Liberals in 2024 think politics is an all-consuming endeavor where you are either with them or against them.
There is no middle ground.
And there is no institution or space to escape from the pull of partisan politics.
