Bill Maher mocks woke Los Angeles fire chief 

The wildfires that ravaged California caused a re-examination of the state’s radical green new deal and DEI policies.

Both left the state unprepared to contain the fires due to a lack of resources and qualified personnel.

Bill Maher had something to say about this fiasco.

And Maher used how officials in California filled critical first responder positions based on DEI principles as another example of how the Democrat Party went off the rails.

Maher noted that Los Angeles’ fire chief was a lesbian and blasted Democrats for hiring the “best lesbian” for the job instead of the best person for the job so the Left could fill out its identity politics bingo card.

“The good news is our fire chief is a lesbian. Am I against a lesbian being chief? Of course not. Do I think a lesbian can do the job? Of course I do. And maybe she’s the best person for the job or maybe they really wanted a lesbian in that job and she’s just the best lesbian for the job, and with essential services that’s not good enough!” Maher declared.

Maher read the fire chief’s bio which listed DEI as the number one priority of the department.

“Crowley’s official bio says, ‘Chief Crowley leads a diverse department, creating, supporting, and promoting a culture that values diversity, inclusion, and equity while striving to meet and exceed the expectations of the communities.,’” Maher explained.

Maher pointed out that the fire chief’s bio mentioned diversity two times before getting to the essential services part.

“Well, you didn’t exceed my expectations. Which was that the whole city wouldn’t burn down. But it’s telling that diversity is mentioned twice before we get to while, ‘while striving to meet expectations,’” Maher continued.

But Maher said Deputy Fire Chief Kristine Larson sounded like what left-wingers caricature as a racist sheriff by saying residents expect someone who looks like them to respond to a fire.

“Now can you do two things at once, yes but it matters where your head is. Deputy Chief Kristine Larson said this: ‘You want to see somebody that responds to your house your emergency, whether it’s a medical call or a fire call, that looks like you.’ Which would sound kind of racist if a southern Sheriff said it,” Maher added.

Maher said this type of demented thinking if taken to its logical conclusion would lead to segregated fire responses.

“So, we should be sending white firefighters to white houses and black ones? Who teaches people this bull****? No one cares what someone looks like when they’re pulling you out of a burning house,” Maher exclaimed.

But will California kick DEI out of government policy?

The state is the most left-wing in America.

And some wonder at what point the consequences of failure become too great for the voters to ignore.
