Bad Bunny has been courting controversy for months now.
The Puerto Rican singer keeps finding new ways to alienate American sports fans.
And Bad Bunny got caught pulling one disrespectful move at a Yankees game that has fans furious.
Bad Bunny’s pattern of anti-American behavior continues
Bad Bunny made headlines recently when he was announced as the Super Bowl halftime performer – a choice that left many scratching their heads.
Here’s a guy who sings almost entirely in Spanish and has repeatedly shown contempt for American law enforcement and immigration policies.
In a recent interview with i-D magazine, he revealed his hostility toward immigration enforcement, claiming he avoided American concerts because of ICE.
Bad Bunny used profanity-laden language to attack immigration agents, saying "f***ing ICE could be outside" his concerts and calling them "motherf***ers" and "sons of b***hes."¹
This from a guy who’s a U.S. citizen thanks to Puerto Rico’s status – yet he seems to have nothing but contempt for the country that gives him that privilege.
He even used his Saturday Night Live hosting gig to defiantly tell Americans they need to learn Spanish to understand his performance.
But his latest stunt at a Yankees playoff game really shows what he thinks of America.
Bad Bunny caught disrespecting America’s anthem at playoff game
Reports emerged that Bad Bunny remained seated during "God Bless America" at Tuesday’s Yankees playoff game against Toronto.
Photography from the game showed the singer sitting while fans around him stood during the traditional 7th inning tribute to the country.
The images captured him wearing a distinctive green hat and casual attire, remaining in his seat during a song that honors America.¹
Social media photos confirmed the singer’s identity through his outfit and appearance that evening.
When contacted for comment about whether this was intentional and what motivated the decision, Bad Bunny’s representatives provided no response.¹
As usual, his team had no comment – because what could they possibly say to defend this behavior?
Bad Bunny’s contempt for America runs deeper than one incident
Look, this isn’t just about one moment at a baseball game.
This is about a pattern of behavior from someone who benefits enormously from American citizenship while constantly showing contempt for the country that provides him those benefits.
Bad Bunny has made it clear he doesn’t respect American immigration laws, doesn’t think Americans deserve to understand what he’s singing at their biggest sporting event, and apparently doesn’t think "God Bless America" deserves even the basic courtesy of standing up.
The guy is a U.S. citizen by virtue of Puerto Rico’s status, yet he acts like America is some foreign enemy rather than his home country.
For sports fans who love this country and respect what it stands for, watching someone disrespect "God Bless America" at an iconic venue like Yankee Stadium is genuinely offensive.
This is the same song that became a rallying cry after 9/11, when Americans came together to show that our values and our spirit couldn’t be broken by attacks.
To sit through that song at Yankee Stadium – where so many great American moments have happened – shows a level of disrespect that’s hard to fathom.
And now this is the guy the NFL chose to represent America at the Super Bowl halftime show.
What message does that send to the millions of Americans who still believe in showing basic respect for the country that protects freedom and opportunities for every citizen?
Bad Bunny can sing in whatever language he wants, but if he can’t show basic respect for America, maybe he shouldn’t be representing us on the world’s biggest stage.
