The NFL keeps finding ways to end up on the wrong side of political debates.
Now the league is in hot water right at the peak of the election season.
And now an NFL star is about to get punished for this pro-Trump display.
Woke media outraged over Nick Bosa’s support for Donald Trump
San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa was the 2019 Defensive Rookie of the Year, the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year, and a four-time Pro Bowler.
Bosa’s one of the best in the game.
But the media wants to make an example of Bosa because Bosa ran in the camera of a postgame interview of his team’s Week 8 30-24 win over the Dallas Cowboys while wearing a MAGA hat.

Left-wing activist Mike Freeman whined in a column for The New York Times’ sports department, “The Athletic,” that Bosa didn’t face punishment from the NFL for supporting Trump when no team would sign washed up anti-American national anthem protestor Colin Kaepernick.
“Bosa has every right to support whomever he chooses. As the saying goes, it’s a free country. But the display — and the intentionality behind it — was curious considering the NFL has gone to great lengths over the last eight years to stop players from making political expressions at games,” Freeman began.
“The concern is whether the NFL might show it has a double standard when it comes to political expressions by players. Kaepernick gets black balled for fighting for social justice, and Bosa gets, what? Ignored by the league and applauded by far-right supporters who otherwise demand that athletes, specifically Black athletes, stick to sports?” Freeman continued.
The rule in question
Freeman and other woke lunatics in the sports media – which the era of social media exposed to be even more far-left than the political media – cited NFL Rule 5, Section 4, Article 8.
“Throughout the period on game day that a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including in pregame warm-ups, in the bench area, and during postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office,” the rule states.
NFL players and coaches can discuss political matters during postgame press conferences.
But the league doesn’t want political messaging taking place during games.
“The League will not grant permission for any club or player to wear, display, or otherwise convey messages, through helmet decals, arm bands, jersey patches, mouthpieces, or other items affixed to game uniforms or equipment, which relate to political activities or causes, other non-football events, causes or campaigns, or charitable causes or campaigns. Further, any such approved items must be modest in size, tasteful, non-commercial, and non-controversial; must not be worn for more than one football season,” the rule adds.
At most, Bosa would face a token fine he could easily afford.
But the heart of this appears to be a couple of radical left-wing columnists bent out of shape over the fact that Bosa supports Donald Trump and they want their pound of flesh as payback over their delusional claim the NFL blackballed Kaepernick because of his anti-American national anthem protests.
