Alvin Bragg isn’t giving up his lawfare against Donald Trump.
Bragg refuses to recognize the lesson of the 2024 election.
And Alvin Bragg just asked a judge to make Donald Trump’s worst nightmare come true.
Bragg slammed for trying to extend lawfare another four years
Democrat activist and Joe Biden donor Judge Juan Merchan is set to sentence Donald Trump on November 26 after Trump’s conviction in the falsification of business records show trial.
Merchan rigged the case against Trump with his biased rulings and appeared set to throw Trump behind bars.
Trump’s win on November 5 changed everything.
Trump’s lawyers previously asked Merchan to vacate the verdict due to the Supreme Court’s ruling on Presidential immunity.
This verdict should be tossed for any number of reasons, but the immunity ruling is the one immediately before the court.
But now Bragg asked Judge Merchan for a four-year extension of the lawfare by delaying sentencing until after Trump leaves office in 2029.
George Washington Law Professor Jonathan Turley told Fox News that this is an unconscionable request by Bragg.
“The worst possible scenario, in my view, is to keep this matter pending during the four years of the administration. You cannot have a local district attorney treat a sitting president like a freak on a leash, where he just is able to say that, ‘I will finish this once you’re out of office,’” Turley stated.
Turley explained that Bragg’s request amounted to him holding the presidency hostage for the next four years.
“It elevates the district attorney to a grotesque level. It also leaves this local judge as determining the ultimate outcome of the president of the United States. It doesn’t serve the nation or justice to have that type of lingering question for the next four years,” Turley added.
Turley told viewers that this serves the political interests of both Bragg and the judge, but that this was bad news for the country.
“Now it certainly serves everyone in New York politically. It serves Bragg, it likely serves this judge politically, but it doesn’t serve the nation. And so the question that we’ll be looking at with this new hearing that’s likely to occur is whether the judge will listen to his better angels and dismiss this case,” Turley continued. “As I’ve said before, I do not believe that the mere election or reelection of President Trump is the basis for simply dismissing this case. I don’t think that the local judge will view it that way. He has a jury verdict on all of these counts.”
“But once again, to return where I began, the worst option for justice and for this nation is to do what Bragg is suggesting, to allow him to hold this leash on a sitting American president for four years … This is the face of rage,” Turley concluded. “It’s addictive. It’s hard to let go. And they want to drag this out for four more years.”
Donald Trump is highly likely to have this conviction overturned on appeal.
The errors that Judge Merchan allowed to take place are extensive, starting with the fact that Merchan allowed this case to proceed in the first place as a local prosecutor like Alvin Bragg has no authority to enforce federal election law.
Given Merchan’s track record of siding with Bragg at every turn, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if Merchan allowed this sham conviction to hang over Donald Trump’s head for the next four years.
