Adam Schiff is losing to a Republican in this shocking poll

Mar 6, 2024

Conservatives dread the prospect of Adam Schiff in the U.S. Senate.

Schiff led the charge on the Russia collusion and Ukraine impeachment against Donald Trump while also serving on Nancy Pelosi’s January 6th Select Committee.

And now Adam Schiff is losing to a Republican in this shocking poll.

Poll: Republican Steve Garvey moves into first place

The final poll before the California primary showed Republican Steve Garvey pulling into first place with 27 percent of the vote, with Schiff in second, winning 25 percent.

Schiff’s fellow Democrat Congresswoman, Katie Porter, dropped to third with 19 percent of the vote.

California has an unusual primary setup where all candidates, regardless of party, compete in the primary, with the top two vote getters advancing to the general election.

Since Republicans out in California represent a minority rump, that usually means the General Election is a matchup between two Democrats.

Schiff spends big to boost Garvey in a move that may backfire on Democrats

Steve Garvey is a former eight-time All Star with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.

But Garvey’s in first place in the poll, thanks in large part to Schiff spending $11 million in ads promoting the fact that Garvey voted twice for Donald Trump and that he’s too conservative for California.

“The ads argue that Republican Steve Garvey — a congenial former pro baseball player for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres who voted twice for Donald Trump but won’t say if he will do so again — is too conservative for California and highlight his recent surge, in an apparent effort to consolidate support for him on the right,” the Washington Post reported.

The ads had their desired effect as Garvey vaulted to first place and sent Porter tumbling down to third as conservatives coalesced around Garvey.

“The large increase in Garvey’s voter support occurred in the last six weeks, DiCamillo writes, by consolidating Republican and conservative voters. Schiff, who has amassed a formidable warchest, has spent millions in TV, digital and mail ads featuring Garvey, apparently aimed at Republicans, describing him as a threat to Democrats’ control of Congress,” POLITICO reported.

Schiff would much rather run against a Republican in the General Election than another Democrat.

But Schiff’s move could doom the Democrats to remaining a minority in the House yet again.

Having a Republican Senate candidate on the ticket could help draw out voters in key Congressional districts that Republicans hold, but that Democrats want to flip.

Schiff was looking out for himself.

His gambit, however, may come back to haunt Democrats in the House of Representatives.
