The View is normally controversial because of the inane political takes spewed by the show’s co-hosts.
But the show could now face a serious issue.
And a View co-host made one on-air confession that may lead to one massive legal problem.
Sunny Hostin’s husband, Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Emmanuel Hostin, is among nearly 200 defendants named in one of the biggest RICO cases in New York history.
Hostin and other doctors face claims of receiving kickbacks in exchange for fraudulent insurance claims filed with American Transit, a company that insures ride sharing giants Uber and Lyft.
“Hostin knowingly provided fraudulent medical and other healthcare services including arthroscopic surgeries,” the lawsuit read.
“The insurance firm American Transit was then billed ‘in exchange for kickbacks and/or other compensation which were disguised as dividends or other cash distributions,’” the lawsuit continues.
Fox News reported that the lawsuit “cites at least two of Hostin’s patients who were allegedly treated in January 2023 following involvement in ‘low-impact’ collisions that caused only minimal damage. Despite experiencing ‘no more than soft-tissue injuries,’ both received arthroscopic surgery.”
Sunny Hostin issued a statement denying all allegations.
“This company has a history of filing frivolous claims, has been investigated by New York State and has been sued by Uber Technologies,” Hostin’s statement read.
Hostin claimed America Transit “used my celebrity status to start a disgusting media smear campaign against my husband.”
The statement also announced Hostin intended to file a multi-million-dollar defamation countersuit
“We have put American Transit on notice and will file a five-million-dollar counter lawsuit for their defamatory claims, an amount that is likely to increase as the reputational damage that American Transit has intentionally caused is difficult to quantify at this time,” Hostin added.
Hostin also demanded that American Transit “withdraw these false allegations, pay my husband what he is owed and issue a public apology.”
American Transit filed the lawsuit on December 17.
Newsbusters’ Nicholas Fondacaro shared a clip from the December 11, 2024, broadcast of The View in which Fondacaro says Hostin “implicates” her husband by telling the audience that her husband performs surgeries on patients that don’t have insurance and then sues insurance companies to get paid.
“[He] operates on someone even though they don’t have insurance and then has to sue health insurance companies to get paid for the work…” Hostin stated.
Sunny Hostin excuses killing healthcare execs:

We’re a very violent country…And so, I’m not, unfortunately, surprised people are celebrating the use of violence…violence is justified right now” pic.twitter.com/MY9ydWoF2L— Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) December 11, 2024
Sonny Hostin is a trained lawyer and one of ABC’s legal correspondents.
Hostin’s comments now could be used against her husband in a court of law.
