Donald Trump needs a change of momentum.
Democrats and their allies in the media created a Kamala Harris boom.
A top pollster left Trump speechless with this scary warning.
Pollster says Kamala running a substance-free campaign
Pollster Frank Luntz is one of the voices for the RINO establishment in Washington, D.C.
Luntz is known for his focus groups of swing state voters.
And Luntz had a sharp message of caution for Donald Trump.
Kamala Harris is running a campaign with no meat on the bone.
Harris won’t speak to reporters and the only policy she proposed was stealing Donald Trump’s no tax on tips.
Instead, Luntz told CNN that she’s running a campaign on the idea of Kamala Harris the person.
And since she hasn’t proposed any policies to attack, Trump is attacking her persona.
Voters, Luntz explained, don’t want to hear personal attacks.
“She’s talking and emphasizing her persona, her attributes, her character traits. And that’s where Trump has been commenting on. And the fact is the American people do not want to hear the same kind of negativity, the same kind of attacks that he’s been delivering,” Luntz stated.
Luntz said the issues of the election – the wide-open southern border and raging inflation – favor Trump, and if he can stick to the policy and avoid the personal, he can win the election.
“His strength is on issues, most particularly the two issues that matter most, inflation and immigration. But instead of speaking about those two issues and talking about the failures of the Biden administration, he’s been making these personal attacks and it’s frankly turning the voters off that he needs to reach,” Luntz added.
Luntz may be part of the RINO establishment but that doesn’t mean he isn’t right about where some of Trump’s best opportunities for attack are.
Trump’s opportunity
The key moment in the campaign – Luntz told host John Berman – would be the September 10 debate on ABC.
That’s when Harris can’t hide behind the press or her teleprompter anymore.
Harris will have to share a stage with Trump and defend the record of the last four years.
“The key moment here is going to be the debates when Harris and Trump stand side-by-side and give the alternative points of view,” Luntz continued.
Luntz argued that despite Harris’ surge in the polls, Trump still stood a good chance of winning the election because Trump can make the argument that the Biden-Harris administration owns a record of unprecedented failure.
But Luntz said for Trump to make that case, he can’t name-call or sound angry.
“I still think he has a reasonable chance of winning, because in the end, the issue agenda favors him. But not if you’re so angry that you’ve stopped reflecting the people you’re trying to reach.”
“People don’t like it when politicians attack each other. Accountability? Yes,” Luntz said. “Attacks? No.”
Despite the media claims that Kamala Harris is running away with the election, the polls and the fundamentals of the race show a jump ball.
Trump has a path available to him for victory.
Will he take it?
