Politics have overtaken sports.
It’s a development that unnerved many fans.
And now a tennis champion heard three words that stopped him dead in his tracks.
Novak Djokovic prepared to serve during his third-round victory over Argentina’s Tomás Martín Etcheverry when a heckler in the crowd shouted, “Get vaccinated mate.”
Djokovic stopped his serve to gather himself.
Then Djokovic smoked an ace to win the point.

Djokovic’s refusal to take the COVID vaccine hindered his tennis career.
The government of Australia banned him from competing in the 2022 Australian Open because vaccination was a requirement for participation.
Djokovic also couldn’t play in that year’s U.S. Open because Joe Biden banned unvaccinated foreigners from entering the country.
In 2023, both the governments of Australia and the United States came to their senses and lifted their tyrannical vaccination mandates.
And Djokovic got the best revenge possible by winning the Australian and U.S. Opens on the way to racking up a record 24 career grand slam titles.
In an interview with the British Broadcasting Company, Djokovic said he took vaccinations as a child and wasn’t against all vaccines.
However, he believed he had the right to decide what he put into his body, and he wasn’t about to compromise those beliefs, even if it hindered his ability to lay claim to being the greatest tennis player ever by forcing him to sit out major competitions.
“I was never against vaccination,” Djokovic said in the BBC interview, “but I’ve always supported the freedom to choose what you put in your body.”
“Because the principles of decision making on my body are more important than any title or anything else. I’m trying to be in tune with my body as much as I possibly can,” Djokovic added.
The media and governments adopted a fanatical posture towards trying to force citizens to take the COVID vaccine, even though public health authorities knew it wasn’t a true vaccine, as it didn’t prevent transmission or spread of the coronavirus.
Journalists, fans, and government officials tried to make an example out of Djokovic to force regular citizens to take the COVID vaccine.
But the truth and science were on the side of the holdouts.
And apparently that’s still a sore sport for the COVID crowd.
