New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s political future is the subject of much debate.
But there are some clues about which direction she is leaning.
And a polling guru made one heart pounding prediction about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Nate Silver says AOC top pick to be Democrat Party nominee in 2028
The Democrat Party is leaderless.
Bill Clinton and Barack Obama are past their primes.
Joe Biden is senile.
Kamala Harris is a joke.
Nature abhors a vacuum.
And someone is stepping up to fill the void.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is traveling the country with Bernie Sanders speaking to large crowds where she smears President Trump as a rapist and implores the Democrat Party to double down on socialism.
Democrat voters are responding as evidenced by Ocasio-Cortez raising a record $10 million haul in the first quarter of 2025.
Now the question is will this enthusiasm translate to a Presidential bid.
Polling guru Nate Silver appeared on Galen Druke’s GD Politics where the two did a mock draft of 2028 Democrat Party Presidential contenders.
Druke took Ocasio-Cortez with his number one pick which frustrated Silver who joked that was who he wanted to draft number one.
“F–k you,” Silver joked. “That was going to be my f–king first pick!”
Druke went on to detail why he thought Ocasio-Cortez was a strong pick.
“I think there’s a lot of points in her favor at this very moment,” Druke told Silver. “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has broad appeal across the Democratic Party.”
A recent Yale University poll showed Ocasio-Cortez having a +60 percent favorability rating among Democrats, which was tops along with Kamala Harris.

The poll also showed Ocasio-Cortez rising up to second place in the Presidential preference question.
Yale wrote that the poll “found that a plurality of Democrats (and Democratic-leaning independents) would vote for former Vice President Kamala Harris (27.5%) if the 2028 Democratic primary were held today. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (21.3%) came in second, Pete Buttigieg in third (14%), and no other Democrat received more than 5% of votes. The top three candidates were the same among young Democrats only, with even stronger support for Harris (37.4%) and Ocasio-Cortez (28.2%) and weaker support for Buttigieg (9.7%).”

The poll also showed Ocasio-Cortez receiving an even higher 28 percent of the vote among 18-29 year olds.
Druke also argued that Ocasio-Cortez would start with a fervent base of support – which as President Trump showed in 2016 and 2024 – is a major edge in a multi-candidate field.
“I think equally important is the fact that she has very fervent support. I think a lot of people are gonna run in 2028 and it’s going to be a contest for attention and getting those sort of people who might be in your boat to turn out and stay with you through thick and thin,” Druke added.
“I agree with everything,” Silver replied.
Silver raises the questions of electability – there are strong reasons to doubt Americans would elect an avowed socialist as President – and, whether she would opt to run for the Oval Office or Senate, noting polls show her leading Chuck Schumer by double digits in a hypothetical 2028 New York Senate primary.
“New York Democrats are actually a pretty moderate bloc,” Silver said to emphasize why Ocasio-Cortez’s lead over Schumer was so impressive, adding that Ocasio-Cortez was a “canny politician” and “charismatic” politician.
Ocasio-Cortez embarking on a nationwide speaking tour is a pretty strong hint that she will run for President in 2028.
Democrats are livid over President Trump being back in office and they want someone who won’t moderate and will take on the fight on issues like amnesty for illegal aliens and transgender surgeries for kids.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is positioning herself as that candidate.
