Biden-appointed judge forces Trump to fund green energy boondoggle
U.S. District Judge Tana Lin dealt President Trump a major setback when she ordered his administration to release billions of dollars for electric vehicle infrastructure.
The Biden-appointed judge granted a partial preliminary injunction forcing the release of funds to 14 states for EV charging stations.
Lin ruled that Trump’s freeze on the funds violated the Constitution’s separation of powers doctrine.
President Trump had wisely frozen the wasteful spending as part of his broader effort to review Biden’s reckless spending programs.
The ruling affects funding for Washington, Colorado, California, Arizona, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin.
These are largely blue states that have been pushing the radical green agenda that’s destroying American energy independence.
Trump froze the funds in February as part of his effort to review Biden’s $1 trillion infrastructure deal.
The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program allocated $5 billion to build EV charging stations across the country.
But this program represents everything wrong with Biden’s approach to energy policy.
Trump fighting to restore American energy dominance
President Trump campaigned on a promise to end the war on American energy and make electricity affordable again.
He dismantled Biden’s "green new scam" policies within days of taking office.
Trump removed regulations that were driving up energy costs and putting American jobs at risk.
The EV mandate has been a disaster for American consumers and automakers.
Electric vehicles remain expensive, unreliable, and impractical for most Americans.
The charging infrastructure is inadequate and the technology isn’t ready for mass adoption.
But Judge Lin’s ruling forces Trump to continue funding this failed program despite his electoral mandate to change course.
On February 6, 2025, the Federal Highway Administration stopped the EV program and halted distribution of the congressionally approved funds, according to court documents.
This was exactly what Trump should be doing – stopping the flow of taxpayer dollars to wasteful green energy projects.
Deep State resistance continues to undermine Trump
Judge Lin’s ruling represents another example of the Deep State trying to block President Trump’s America First agenda.
But Trump is following the will of the American people who elected him to end Biden’s disastrous policies.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta celebrated the ruling and attacked the Trump administration’s energy policies.
"It is no secret that the Trump Administration is beholden to the fossil fuel agenda," Bonta stated.
This is the same tired rhetoric Democrats have been using for years to attack American energy production.
The truth is Trump is fighting for energy independence and lower costs for working families.
Biden’s green energy policies drove up electricity prices and made America more dependent on China for critical materials.
Judge Lin gave the Trump administration seven days to appeal before her order takes effect on July 2.
The fight for American energy continues
This ruling shows why Trump’s battle against the Deep State is far from over.
Activist judges appointed by Biden are using their positions to block Trump’s mandate from the American people.
They’re forcing taxpayers to continue funding programs that don’t work and that Trump was elected to end.
The EV infrastructure program is a perfect example of government waste that benefits wealthy coastal elites at the expense of working Americans.
Most Americans can’t afford electric vehicles and don’t want to be forced to buy them.
But judges like Lin are determined to force this failed green agenda on the country regardless of what voters want.
President Trump will need to continue fighting these judicial activists who are trying to block his America First policies.
The American people gave Trump a mandate to end Biden’s war on American energy.
It’s time for these activist judges to stop blocking the will of the voters and let Trump deliver on his promises to the American people.
