Sean Duffy targets DEI and Green New Deal policies by Pete Buttigieg
Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was using the department to kill time before he launched his next Presidential campaign.
Buttigieg turned the department into a sociology experiment by attacking racist highways and roads to get a leg up in a Democrat Primary.
Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy walked into a department that was filled with Green New Deal initiatives and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies left behind by the last administration.
Duffy is eliminating “unobligated but announced grants” the Biden Transportation Department made through 2026 that cost roughly $40 billion.
Grants that fund DEI, Green New Deal policies, and electric vehicle chargers are on the chopping block.
President Donald Trump issued executive orders eliminating those woke policies from the federal government.
“All competitive grant and cooperative agreement award selections must comply with current Administration priorities and Executive Orders (EO) that address energy, climate change, diversity and gender, and economic analysis, and other priorities,” a Transportation Department memo stated.
The memo noted Trump’s executive orders on “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing” and “Secretarial Memorandum on Implementation of Executive Orders Addressing Energy, Climate Change, Diversity and Gender.”
The Transportation Department was a mess when Duffy took over
Buttigieg oversaw a supply chain crisis, growing airline delays and cancellations, and disasters like the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
Duffy is trying to get the Transportation Department back on track.
The Biden Transportation Department, like every other area of the government, put left-wing ideology ahead of basic competency.
A source in the department told the Daily Caller that Duffy’s goal is to use grants for “safety and core infrastructure” projects to “allow projects to be completed more quickly and more affordably.”
The Duffy Transportation Department is returning the agency’s focus to delivering for the American people rather than pushing a left-wing political agenda.
Biden’s woke grants will be reviewed by the department.
“The Biden Administration’s lack of action and emphasis on priorities other than building created an unprecedented backlog of unobligated grants, and we have every right to give them a closer look,” a Transportation Department spokesman said.
Grants will be used to improve travel and transportation for Americans.
“The American people are eager to see fewer of their tax dollars subsidizing a woke DEI ideology, radical Green New Deal projects, or other wasteful programs. Grants focused on relieving congestion and bolstering safety are and will be the priority for President Trump and Secretary Duffy,” the Transportation Department spokesman added.
Federal agencies across the government have begun to purge DEI initiatives and Green New Deal policies after Trump’s executive orders.
Sean Duffy is making sure the Transportation Department invests in the nation’s infrastructure instead of using taxpayer money to advance a left-wing political agenda.
