The ugly truth about former President Joe Biden’s time in the White House is slowly starting to come out.
Michael LaRosa was the longtime Press Secretary to former First Lady Jill Biden.
He let the cat out of the bag on Joe Biden to Puck News senior political correspondent Tara Palmeri during a panel at American University.
LaRosa claimed that Biden’s staffers were doing “a lot of gaslighting” to hide the former President’s mental decline from the public.
Palmeri asked if an upcoming book by CNN host Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson about the cover-up of Biden’s mental decline was true.
The book, Original Sin, claims to give an insider account of Biden’s re-election campaign and the effort to hide his mental decline.
Only after the election and Biden had no political future did the legacy media take an interest in it.
“There are some things that are true, like the gaslighting,” LaRosa said. “There was a lot of denial of the polling.”
He said that the moment he joined the Biden campaign in 2019, it was known that age was going to be an issue.
Palmeri asked him if he was worried about Biden running for re-election.
“Um, yes,” LaRosa replied, explaining that he “just assumed” that the former President wasn’t going to run for a second term.
“I just assumed – kind of like Barack Obama probably assumed,” LaRosa explained. “I figured that by 2024, this was going to be, ‘Okay, we’re going to pass the torch to another generation of Democrats, and let them handle a Trump 2.0 campaign.’”
Democrats had options and none of them were good
LaRosa revealed that Democrats quickly realized they had no good options to step in for Biden.
“I was brought to reality pretty fast. Like, ‘Why not? Why wouldn’t he run?’ They were kind of either stuck with him, or they were eating their vegetables and saying, ‘He’s our best shot. Not a socialist from Vermont. We’re comfortable with him, he’s competent, he’s earned a lot of goodwill,’” LaRosa stated.
He argued that the Biden White House misread its mandate after House Republicans picked up 13 House seats in the 2020 Election.
Palmeri asked LaRosa if hiding Biden from the press was a way of covering up his decline.
“The President’s team was scared to death of impromptu, unscripted, unrehearsed, unpracticed, unchoreographed anything,” LaRosa said.
The former President needed the media to save him after his disastrous debate, but he had already lost them at that point.
“Biden needed the press, but when he needed the press the most, they didn’t trust him. And then the press put their foot on the gas and never took it off, and he was politically dead in a month,” LaRosa said.
