George Clooney’s July New York Times op-ed calling for Biden to drop out of the race because he was senile was one of the straws that broke the camel’s back on pressuring Biden to end his campaign.
Clooney wrote about a June fundraiser Biden attended in Los Angeles where Biden froze on stage and needed former President Barack Obama to hand walk him off the stage.
When video of the disturbing scene went viral on social media, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre falsely claimed the footage was one of the “cheap fakes” circulated by conservatives to frame Joe Biden as mentally incompetent.
In the Times op-ed, Clooney admitted Biden’s brain was cooked.
“It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate,” Clooney wrote.
When the op-ed hit, everyone assumed Clooney was the stalking horse for former President Barack Obama.
That’s because, had Obama openly called for Biden to drop out, it only would have caused Biden to dig in further.
Clooney finally dished on the origins of the op-ed in an interview with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd.
Dowd reported that Clooney said he wrote the op-ed on his own.
“People thought Obama was behind it, but Clooney said he did it despite being urged not to,” Dowd wrote.
The ER star admitted that Biden conspired to hide his “incapacities” from the public and that “the media, in many ways, dropped the ball” in their coverage of Biden.
Clooney said the Biden he saw that night in Los Angeles was a shell of himself.
“I saw him for hours a year earlier at the Kennedy Center, and I saw someone much less sharp,” Clooney added.
But if Clooney is saying the media was complicit in the cover up of Biden’s cognitive decline, then the New York Times op-ed was his confession.
Clooney only went public with concerns about Biden having jelly for brains because Biden bombed the debate, and Democrats didn’t think Biden could ever climb back to electoral viability.
After admitting there was a conspiracy of silence on the Left to conceal Biden’s melted brain, Clooney tried to soften the blow.
“I’ve always liked Joe Biden, and I like him still,” Clooney told Dowd.
Clooney fell back in the eyeroll-inducing talking point the media loves to deploy about failed Democrats that they couldn’t find their voice.
“The Biden administration was terrible at explaining that we’re a world economy, where we were actually doing better than all the other G7 countries. They were bad at telling the story because their messenger was not working at his best, to say the least,” Clooney concluded.
