USAID paid for an al-Qaeda terrorist to go to college
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and his team at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) shined a spotlight on the corruption at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The independent agency was supposed to be a vehicle funding foreign aid.
But it had become a slush fund for promoting the Left’s woke agenda overseas.
USAID used taxpayer money to fund grants for sex-change operations in Guatemala, transgender comic books in South America, and left-wing media outlet Politico.
But this was just the tip of the iceberg on the abuse of taxpayer money by the agency.
USAID was funneling money to the Taliban and Palestinian terrorists.
The Biden administration gave the green light to USAID grants to Gaza, even though they knew there was a high likelihood they would end up in the hands of Hamas.
The agency also paid for the college tuition of an al-Qaeda terrorist with ties to the hijackers in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Anwar al-Awlaki falsely claimed that he was born in Yemen to get aid from the State Department when he was an American citizen born in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
A document showed that USAID provided “full funding” for him to attend Colorado State University.

He graduated from college with American taxpayers picking up the tab through USAID in 1994.
“This form, dated 1990, confirms that Anwar al-Awlaki was qualified for an exchange visa and that USAID was providing ‘full funding’ for his studies at Colorado State University,” the National Security Archive stated. “The document lists Anwar’s birthplace incorrectly as Sanaa, Yemen’s capital, which he later said was a deliberate falsehood offered at the urging of American officials who knew his father so that he could qualify for a scholarship reserved for foreign citizens.”
Al-Awlaki would go on to preach at mosques around the country, including one in San Diego where he met 9/11 hijackers Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar.

Al-Awlaki worked to radicalize people on the Internet into supporting terrorism.
He spoke to Army Major Nidal Hasan before he killed 13 people at Fort Hood in Texas in 2009 and the “Underwear Bomber” who tried to blow up a Christmas Day flight in 2009 to Detroit with explosives packed in his shorts.
Al-Awlaki fled to Yemen where he was killed in a drone strike authorized in 2011 by former President Barack Obama.
Obama unilaterally ordered the extra-judicial strike against him, without a trial or conviction, even though he was an American citizen.
Democrats have fought tooth and nail to keep USAID open despite its wasteful spending and support for terrorists.
“USAID is driving the radical left crazy, and there is nothing they can do about it because the way in which the money has been spent, so much of it fraudulently, is totally unexplainable,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump ordered that USAID be shut down and control of the agency transferred to the State Department.
