Mitch McConnell is coming to the end of his political career.
He’s determined to be a thorn in the side of conservatives.
And Karoline Leavitt lowered the boom on Mitch McConnell for this America last betrayal.
Mitch McConnell votes against Tulsi Gabbard’s confirmation
U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has been leading the charge against President Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees.
The 82-year-old lawmaker helped kill former Representative Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) nomination as Attorney General.
McConnell voted with Democrats against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s confirmation.
He joined them once again when he became the lone Republican to vote against Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
“The nation should not have to worry that the intelligence assessments the President receives are tainted by a Director of National Intelligence with a history of alarming lapses in judgment,” McConnell said in a statement.
The Kentucky lawmaker parroted Democrat party talking points in his opposition to Gabbard by falsely claiming she was compromised by Russia.
McConnell is in failing health and is unlikely to run for another term in the Senate in the 2026 Midterm Elections.
He’s spending his final two years in Washington, D.C. trying to throw sand in the gears of the Trump agenda.
Karoline Leavitt fires back at Mitch McConnell
Gray Television White House Correspondent Jon Decker asked about the latest betrayal by McConnell at a press briefing.
“As you pointed out in your statement regarding the confirmation of Tulsi Gabbard, there was one Republican who voted against the nomination of Tulsi Gabbard. It was Senator Mitch McConnell,” Decker said. “Similarly, how does the administration view Senator McConnell? Can he be a partner in the president’s legislative agenda? Are you disappointed that he voted against not only Tulsi Gabbard but also Pete Hegseth to be the defense secretary?”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt didn’t mince her words.
“I think we’re greatly disappointed in any Republican who chooses willfully to vote against the President’s exceptionally qualified Cabinet nominees and picks to lead his America First administration,” Leavitt replied. “Not a single Democrat swayed from voting against President Biden’s nominees.”
Former President Joe Biden’s cabinet picks received no opposition from Democrats.
“And we know how many of them turned out,” Leavitt said. “They turned out to be atrocious at their jobs, leaving America much worse than they were when they took the oath of office. And so I’ve said it repeatedly from this podium. I addressed it at the beginning of my remarks. We expect all Republicans to vote to stay tough and strong.”
McConnell’s latest betrayal earned a harsh rebuke from a businessman interested in running for his Senate seat in 2026.
Lexington, Kentucky-based businessman Nate Morris, an ally of Vice President J.D. Vance, slammed McConnell for selling out conservatives and Trump.
“Mitch McConnell, unfortunately, has sold Kentucky conservatives out for years now,” Morris said. “He’s turned his back on us, and he’s turned his back on President Trump.”
Morris is looking at running for the Senate in 2026 or Governor in 2027.
If Mitch McConnell doesn’t call it a career, he could face a strong Primary challenge in 2026.
