The Democrat Party is stuck in the political wilderness.
It doesn’t look like the party will forge a path out anytime soon.
And now Democrats made one bad decision that will doom them to defeat.
Democrats pick a new party chairman
The first step any losing party takes is picking a new national chairman.
A party chairman’s two main jobs are raising money and devising a Presidential Primary process that maximizes the chance to win.
Who a party picks as the chairman can also send symbolic gestures to the public of the party’s future direction.
In the case of the Democrat Party picking Minnesota Democrat State Party chairman Ken Martin as their new national party chair, Democrats showed they haven’t learned a thing since November.
In his acceptance speech, Martin pledged the kind of unyielding resistance to Donald Trump that voters repudiated in massive fashion in 2024.
“A lot of people in this country right now are going to need us to walk and chew gum at the same time, meaning we’re going to have to fight the extremes of Donald Trump while we make a sharp case to families in both red states and blue states about why they should trust us with their votes. The thing is this when the Trump agenda fails, Americans, which it most certainly will and already has, we have to be there with a legitimate alternative to this chaos,” Martin stated.
The voters rejected Democrats because they found the woke ideology the Left used to suppress free speech and impose cancel culture annoying and offensive.
But in his acceptance speech, Martin declared Democrats would double down on identity politics.
“Democrats need to ask ourselves each day, Whose side are we on? Which side are we on? Are we on the side of the robber baron, the ultra-wealthy billionaire, the oil and gas polluter, the union buster?” Martin began.
Then Martin veered off into a bizarre discussion where he falsely claimed Donald Trump banned Black History Month.
“Or are we on the side of the American working family, The small business owner, the farmer, the immigrants, and the students? Let me tell you, I know which side I’m on. I know which side you’re on. Let me tell you, folks, Black History Month, Black History Month started today,” Martin added.
“So are we on the side of this grotesque brand of politics that bans us from observing this month stops us from celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and expressly aims to turn back the clock to a pre-civil rights era, or are we on the side of a fiercely and compassionately defending the rights of freedoms and dreams of the American people?” Martin asked.
Donald Trump didn’t ban Black History Month.
The Pentagon will no longer recognize any identity celebration months such as Pride Month, Women’s History Month, or Black History Month.
But the fact that the new incoming party chairman picked this as his first fight shows Democrats may have a longer stay in the wilderness than they had hoped.
