James Comer uncovered the Biden Crime Family’s corruption.

Now Comer has a new target in his sights.

And James Comer put the fear of God in one top Democrat with this letter.

Denver Mayor called to testify in hearing on sanctuary cities

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston set off a national uproar last November when he floated the idea of ordering the city’s police force to prevent federal authorities from entering the city to carry out Donald Trump’s mass deportations.

Johnston also told 9News in Denver that he was willing to go to jail to defy Trump’s mass deportations.

“Yeah, I’m not afraid of that, and I’m also not seeking that,” Johnston stated.

Border Czar Tom Homan said he would be happy to put Johnston behind bars for violating federal law.

“But, look, me and the Denver Mayor, we agree on one thing. He’s willing to go to jail, I’m willing to put him in jail,” Homan told Sean Hannity.

Now Mayor Johnston has the opportunity to explain himself.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) sent Mayor Johnston a letter requesting he testify at a hearing investigating sanctuary cities like Denver.

“These jurisdictions take it upon themselves to decide what laws they will and will not abide by all for the purpose of shielding removable aliens, especially criminals, from federal law enforcement,” Comer’s letter reads.

Sanctuary cities like Denver that defy federal immigration law create national security and public safety threats.

“On his first day in office, President Donald Trump took decisive actions to restore the rule of law. It is now imperative that our immigration laws are enforced across the country and that criminal aliens are swiftly removed from our communities,” the letter went on to say.

Johnston claimed Denver would cooperate with removing criminal illegal aliens but wouldn’t lift a finger to participate in “a mass deportation sting that drives terror into the hearts of Colorado immigrants regardless of their legal status.”

Johnston claimed he wanted to see Congress “fix our broken immigration system” – that’s Democrat code for amnesty – and until that happened, Denver would go back to shielding illegal aliens from deportation.

“The most helpful thing Congressional Republicans could do right now is fix our broken immigration system. While they work on that, we will focus on running the cities that manage the consequences of their failure to act,” a statement from Johnston’s office to FOX31 read.

Johnston made it clear that Denver wouldn’t honor ICE detainers.

“The whole state is bound by our state law in this, which is pretty consistent in some of these practices like everywhere in the state, we don’t honor ICE detainers,” Johnston added.

“If ICE calls and says, ‘Will you hold someone for three more days?’ That doesn’t happen in Douglas County or Yuma or in Denver. A lot of these practices are similar statewide, but we think ours finds a common-sense balance of making sure we’re not having our local police doing federal law enforcement, that’s not our job, we’re not going to do ICE’s job for them. But, if they call for information on folks we have in custody, we’ll let them know when we’re releasing them.”

That sets up a showdown between Johnston, Comer, Trump, and Homan.
