As wildfires continue to turn Los Angeles into a fiery hellscape, residents are pitching in to help everyone impacted by the fire.
While some may support by giving money, others are donating their time to help protect their homes and neighborhoods during this troubling time.
But how Jay Leno is helping L.A.’s firefighters will bring a tear to your eye.
Currently, wildfires are still raging throughout California’s coastal areas, wreaking chaos, havoc, and destruction as they go.
So far, the total area destroyed by these fires has been estimated to be at least three times the size of Manhattan.
Approximately 12,300 homes and businesses have been destroyed, and at least 25 lives have been lost.
Among those to have lost their homes were notable “celebrities” like Paris Hilton, actor Jeff Bridges, Anthony Hopkins, and singer Mandy Moore.
The total economic costs have reached $250 billion, so far.
However, firefighters are still having difficulty containing the blazes and arsonists are still being caught trying to start more fires, which means those damage totals are unfortunately only going to increase.
Legendary late night comedian Jay Leno was recently interviewed on Andrew Cuomo’s NewsNation show and compared the devastation to “Hiroshima.”
“Everybody thinks Malibu is heaven, but you have heaven and hell, literally, on the same street. Over here, there’s nothing, and over here, it’s just the chimneys that are standing. Even in a warzone, you see buildings and walls. Everything is gone,” said Leno.
But despite the disheartening scenes, Leno told Andrew Cuomo that people have remained strong and positive.
“It doesn’t matter what sign you have on your lawn. You know, it’s come down to neighbors caring for one another. I haven’t heard one political opinion. I just heard people [ask], ‘How can we save this?’” he continued.
Jay Leno would then go on to regale Cuomo with a tale of how renowned actor and ardent Trump supporter James Woods helped rescue a 94-year-old neighbor with dementia from the fires.
But James Woods isn’t the only one who is rolling up his or her sleeves and pitching in to help those in need during these dire times.
Jay Leno himself also pitched in to help out in such a kind and caring way it will bring a tear to your eye.
Los Angeles’ firefighters, as well as volunteers from all across the country, have been working around the clock to save these Californian communities from the flames.
So to help out, Leno started by “cooking up for the guys and giving them a hot meal.”
And so far, the late-night host has cooked up approximately $21,000 worth of ribs, chicken, and other food.
“My God, these guys can eat. They went through the whole thing. We need more food. So we got more food today. Got more food tomorrow, more food Thursday,” exclaimed Leno.
Leno would then go on to emphasize how little politics mattered when he was serving food to these heroes, saying, “It’s not a matter of whose president, who won or who lost.”
And that is exactly right.
There will be time for investigations, hearings, testimonies, blame, and punishment, but now is not that time.
Now, our thoughts, prayers, well wishes, time, money, and energy should go to the people suffering as a result of these wildfires.
Jay Leno is setting an example for the rest of America.
Hopefully more will follow his example.
