Michelle Obama is speaking out.
No one could believe what she had to say.
And Barack Obama put fear in Michelle Obama’s heart with this decision.
Michelle Obama said she was terrified of Barack Obama running for President
Michelle Obama appeared on Jennifer Hudson’s talk show for a more candid conversation than normal.
The former First Lady discussed how back in when Barack Obama first wanted to run for President, he did what any potential candidate would do and took his spouse’s temperature.
Obama told Jennifer Hudson her first reaction was to shoot down a Presidential campaign, saying she was scared of the prospect.
“When Barack first approached me about running for President my first response was, No, no, dude, that sounds scary and crazy,” Obama stated.
Obama explained that what she was afraid of was what the unknowns were that come with running for President and the changes a campaign imposes on your life.
“And then I had to think about, what was I afraid of? And it was change in the unknown, and what it would mean for my girls, who were seven and 10 at the time, not wanting to uproot them. And I had to ask myself, we can get through this,” Obama added.
Obama claims she came around because she thought Barack Obama was a “gift” to the country and that overcoming her fear of a Presidential campaign was the message she wanted to send to her two daughters.
“We’ve done hard things before, and is that fear enough for me to stop a man that I believe then and believe now has been a real gift to us as a leader, not a perfect leader, but a gift,” Obama continued. “And I thought if I can push back my fear and get to a better place, that’s the story I want to tell my daughters.”
Michelle Obama’s attitude toward politics
These comments track with what Americans know about Michelle Obama’s attitude toward America and politics.
When Obama ran for President in 2008, Michelle Obama certainly acted like it was a “gift.”
Obama infamously claimed the first time she was ever proud of her country was when it elected her husband President.
Americans didn’t consider Obama’s Presidency much of a gift.
Voters elected Donald Trump twice as a massive repudiation of how Obama transformed the Democrat Party into the political coalition for woke coastal elites.
And Michelle Obama certainly hates the ritual of campaigning for President.
In the 2008, 2012, 20016, 2020, and 2024 campaigns, Michelle Obama did the bare minimum on the trail.
Michelle Obama also refused to run for President in 2020 and 2024 when she was every Democrats’ dream candidate and the party would have handed her the nomination on a silver platter without her ever having to campaign for it.
Kamala Harris’ defeat in November spells the end of the Obama coalition as a force in American politics.
It may also spell the end of Michelle Obama on the campaign trail.
