Joe Biden opened a can of worms when he pardoned Hunter Biden.
He changed the political dynamics of who could get one.
And Donald Trump was speechless when a top Democrat made this jaw-dropping confession about pardons.
Top Biden ally in Congress suggests some January 6 pardons would be appropriate
President Joe Biden ignited a debate about Presidential pardons when he handed one out to Hunter Biden after saying for months that he wouldn’t.
Democrats pressured Biden to issue more blanket pardons ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration for people they thought could be targeted by his Justice Department like RINO Liz Cheney, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and U.S. Senator-elect Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).
The Left became concerned that Trump would hand out pardons to January 6 protestors after he floated the idea in reaction to Hunter Biden’s pardon.
Representative Jim Clyburn (D-SC), one of Biden’s top allies in Congress, admitted he was okay with Trump issuing some pardons for January 6 protesters during an appearance on CNN’s News Central.
“I think that it’s the President’s prerogative to pardon whomever he wishes to pardon,” Clyburn said. “That’s up to the President. I favor the pardon system. It ought to be used to rectify wrongs. It ought to be used to forgive and to provide a second chance.”
Clyburn was willing to support pardons to non-violent protestors.
“So, if you go on a case-by-case basis, you look at all of those people, some people may have gotten caught up in the emotion and maybe a pardon for them would be okay,” Clyburn explained.
He stressed that anyone who was involved in violence on that day shouldn’t get one.
“So, yes, go case by case. And there may be some people who got caught up and give them a pardon,” Clyburn added. “But a blanket pardon to everybody, irrespective, no, I do not agree with that.”
Donald Trump is ready to go on January 6 pardons
Trump told NBC News host Kristen Welker that January 6 pardons would be coming on his first day in office during an interview on Meet the Press.
“First day. Yeah, I’m looking for these pardons,” Trump said. “They’ve been in there for years, and they’re in a filthy, disgusting place that shouldn’t even be allowed to be open.”
He argued that January 6 protestors were railroaded by the justice system.
“Look. I know the system. The system’s a very corrupt system,” Trump stated. “They say to a guy, ‘You’re going to go to jail for two years or for 30 years.’ And these guys are looking, their whole lives have been destroyed.”
“Yeah, I’m going to look at everything,” Trump added. “We’re going to look at individual cases.”
The Biden Justice Department charged more than 1,500 people with crimes on January 6 after the largest investigation in the FBI’s history.
“There may be some exceptions to it. I have to look,” Trump said. “But, you know, if somebody was radical, crazy. There might be some people from Antifa there.”
He highlighted the hypocrisy between Antifa burning down cities like Portland getting off scot-free while grandmas were arrested.
“The people that did very little. They arrested an old woman because she, I don’t think she did anything,” Trump explained. “They don’t even know what she did. These people have suffered. Their lives have been destroyed. And yet in Portland, where they burned down half the city, they burn it down all the time, it’s like a, you know, routine occurrence, they don’t do anything.”
Donald Trump can help bring some closure to January 6 by pardoning the protestors.
