Ronald Reagan used to joke that Democrats thought every day was April 15.
At a New York Times panel about the 2024 election, Kellyanne Conway snarked that it was time to update the joke to say Democrats thought every day was January 6.
Conway ridiculed the Democrat Party’s myopic focus on the events of that day as causing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to badly misread the mood of the public.
First Biden and then Kamala Harris centered their campaign message on Donald Trump being a dangerous threat to democracy for inciting an insurrection on January 6.
Americans scoffed at the notion that electing Donald Trump meant an end to elections in America and dismissed it as a patently ridiculous claim.
January 6 ended up being an obsession for inside-the-beltway media, while out in real America the public was more worried about the price of eggs, the wide open southern border, and Joe Biden sleepwalking America towards nuclear war with Russia than the Left’s mental breakdown over January 6.
Conway said the proof of Trump’s mandate was in the fact that 48 out of 50 states were redder in 2024 than 2020.
“The fact is this instead of a year ago, I’ll say it again because it was just raised the Democratic Party right now. Every day they wake up, it’s still January 6th, 2021 in the calendar. They get an electric vehicle. They get an abortion. You’re out of touch with the public. This election was a rejection of wokeness and people. Every state went more red except Nebraska and Washington state. That is a sweep. That is a mandate,” Conway stated.
Conway stated Democrats let Never Trumpers’ unhinged hatred of Trump guide the party since big money donors poured tens of millions of dollars into their coffers, as opposed to paying attention to the issues their voters care about.
“That is President Trump coming into office and the American people saying, please make my life safer, more secure, more affordable. Please get us out of these foreign engagements. And I think the always wrong ‘Never Trumpers’ who had unlimited money, cost the party, cost the Democratic Party, which they say they’re not even a member. Another presidential election,” Conway added.
One explosive moment from the panel came when Conway mocked Sarah Longwell – an obscure Republican strategist no one ever heard of until she began opposing Donald Trump in 2016 and then started publishing anti-Trump outlet The Bulwark in 2018 – for having “stage 5 Trump Derangement syndrome.”
Longwell – who ran focus groups to try and figure out a way to defeat Donald Trump, an effort that failed miserably – showed how petty and mean-spirited the Never Trumpers are by attacking Conway and her fellow Trump supporters as “bad people.”

Conway’s larger point was that the media elevated the platform of Never Trumpers like Longwell because the press couldn’t get enough of supposed “Republicans” trashing Trump.
But it proved to be a massive blunder, as these Never Trumpers could never get past their hatred of the man, and Democrats mistook their prominence in the media for how little sway they had with the public, who cared about making their own lives better.
