No President ever faced such opposition like Donald Trump.
The entire American system is lined up against him.
And now Donald Trump just got vindicated on this major charge against him.
The press accuses Trump of lying about Hurricane Helene recovery
When Hurricane Helene ravaged the Southeastern United States in September, Donald Trump slammed the Biden-Kamala Harris administration for a poor response.
The administration waited days to deploy military assets for the recovery operation.
Trump also accused the administration of abandoning the people of North Carolina.
In return, the media savaged Trump as a liar and conspiracy theorist.
“Fact check: Six days of Trump lies about the Hurricane Helene response,” read the CNN headline.
“Donald Trump’s many, many lies about Hurricane Helene, debunked,” Vox wrote.
“Trump’s False Claims About the Federal Response to Hurricane Helene,” A New York Times headline read.
CBS News headlined an article “Misinformation has surged following Hurricane Helene. Here’s a fact check.”
But one of the enduring lessons of the Trump era is that when the media claims something is a lie or a conspiracy theory, there is a better than even chance it turns out to be true.
Media now admits FEMA’s response to Hurricane Helene fell short
But once it became too late to matter for the election, the press conceded Trump was accurate in his criticism of the Biden-Harris administration’s response to Helene.
A POLITICO article published the weekend before the election reported that North Carolina residents couldn’t get through to FEMA on the phone, leaving them stranded.
“Hundreds of thousands of people who are trying to recover from disasters nationwide have been unable to get through to federal call centers or have stayed on hold for excessive periods of time in the weeks since Helene barreled into southern Appalachia last month,” POLITICO reported.
“Overwhelmed by Helene and Hurricane Milton, the centers failed to answer nearly half of the incoming phone calls over the course of one week recently. For the calls that were answered, it took more than an hour for federal workers to pick up, on average,” the POLITICO report continued.
Trump was also correct in saying FEMA was out of money.
“FEMA data shows that the agency has almost no capacity to deal with another major disaster — two weeks after the Small Business Administration ran out of money to provide low-interest disaster loans for small businesses and households,” POLITICO reported.
One reason the media hit record low levels of trust is because outlets let institutional hatred of Trump overtake their mission to tell the truth and inform readers.
POLITICO tried to dance around admitting Trump was right by still finding a way to call him a liar for communicating accurate information to the public.
“Former President Donald Trump campaigned recently in two heavily damaged swing states — Georgia and North Carolina — and made misleading statements about the Biden administration’s response. But as the federal calls data shows, the hurricane response has encountered genuine problems amid a steady toll of disasters,” POLITICO also reported.
